Wallowology Natural History Discovery Center

Wallowology is a small natural history discovery center in downtown Joseph, Oregon, focused on the ecosystems, geology, and wildlife of the Wallowa Country. Inside, kids can explore hands-on exhibits including the Ancient Forest Exhibit with an old-growth ponderosa pine slab to examine, a Discovery Room full of rocks, bugs, and skulls to touch, a pollination room with an interactive game and a butterfly vision simulator, and a Raptor Room covering hawks, eagles, ospreys, and condors. Staff naturalists and educators lead family-friendly Discovery Walks, longer day hikes, and ranch and nature site tours for groups. The center has run seasonally, opening late May through late September, Thursday through Sunday from 10am to 3pm, with occasional evening presentations by scientists and artists.
