About this placeSwift County Historical Society and Museum in Benson preserves local history through changing exhibits, including a Veterans Hall with military uniforms and artifacts in a glass display case. A restored 1871 one-room schoolhouse sits on the museum grounds and is open to visitors during regular hours, with old classroom exhibits, vintage quilts on display, and staff on hand to let people inside. Families researching local roots can use the on-site genealogical library, which includes access to Ancestry.com by appointment. The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 9am to 4pm (closing at 3:30pm in summer), closed on major holidays, and also welcomes visits by appointment outside regular hours.
A membership to Swift County Historical Society carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
