About this placeThis museum in downtown Punxsutawney combines science and local folklore to teach kids how weather works. The interactive exhibit gallery covers tornadoes, thunderstorms, clouds, precipitation, lightning, the water cycle, weather forecasting technology, and emergency readiness, letting children touch and engage with displays rather than just look at them. There is also a section devoted to Punxsutawney Phil and the town's famous weather-predicting folklore. The center is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed Monday and Tuesday, and free parking is available near the building along with a nearby metered lot. Field trips and homeschool group visits can be arranged, including options to meet Punxsutawney Phil with a group of 25 or more.
