About this placePlains Art Museum is a free admission art museum in downtown Fargo showing modern, contemporary, and Indigenous visual art alongside a permanent collection of more than 6,000 works. Kids and families can take part in youth workshops, family programs, and hands-on classes such as ceramics and printmaking, plus open studio time for community artists. On the first Sunday of each month the museum lowers lights and gallery sound and limits attendance for a calmer sensory-friendly visit, and sensory bags with ear defenders and a weighted item are available to borrow at the front desk. It is open daily, with a late night on Thursdays until 9 PM, and offers free parking in its south side lot along with an on-site bistro for meals.
A membership to Plains Art Museum carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
