About this place

The Osceola County Historical Society is a 501c3 that was founded on October 29, 1949 by volunteers Charles and Twylah Hartley and Alma Hetherington looking to properly preserve artifacts and publish articles that would ensure Osceola County’s heritage lived on for years to come. Today, Osceola History has 5 locations, 13 staff members and a Board of Directors that collects and preserves the county’s history. Osceola County Welcome Center and History Museum The Osceola County Welcome Center and History Museum was created in partnership with Osceola County and Osceola History to teach locals and visitors about the county’s rich history. We guarantee it will be the most unique part of your vacation to Kissimmee. The center is comprised of 4 realistic dioramas showcasing different habitats that you could encounter while in Osceola County: swamplands, pine flatwoods, oak hammock, and lakefront. Once you experience each section in person, you’ll see just how much nature and history are tied together in Osceola County. Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek The Pioneer Village is comprised of a permanent collection of authentic structures which once upon a time stood in different areas of Osceola County. They were carefully relocated to our present location and gently preserved to demonstrate how life was once lived before our modern times. Come walk our grounds and stroll through history at the Pioneer Village! Guided Tours now available!

If you are a member here

A membership to Osceola History carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.

  • NARM in Florida Art, history and cultural institutions. Not valid within 15 miles of here.

Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
