Old MacDonald's Farm is a petting zoo and working farm outside Rapid City where kids get hands-on with animals like goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, pigs, alpacas, llamas, longhorns, emus, and even baby goats and ducklings. Children can bottle-feed baby goats, feed fish, take a pony ride, or hop on a train ride, and snacks are available on site. The farm also runs school tour programs with themed learning stations covering animal care and farm life, led by farm educators who tailor activities to each group's age. It sits on Highway 16 between Rapid City and Mount Rushmore, close to other regional attractions like Reptile Gardens and Bear Country USA. The farm is open daily through September 7 until 5pm, then Fridays through Sundays, 9am to 5pm, on September 11-13 and 18-20.
