About this place
NERYC JR Sailing runs youth sailing programs at the North East River Yacht Club on the upper Chesapeake Bay. Its Learn to Sail camp welcomes kids ages 8-16 with no prior experience, teaching sailing basics through lectures, drills, and hands-on time on the water using boats like Optimists, Lasers, and Club 420s. More advanced junior sailors ages 9-18 can join the Bay Racers team for coached, competitive regattas held mostly in summer, while middle and high schoolers can compete in scholastic sailing against other schools in the region. All coaching staff must pass child safety and background checks, and club membership offers extra perks like discounted program fees and access to club boats.
