A museum housed in a restored 1908 railroad depot at the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park, telling the story of how the town of West Yellowstone grew around rail service and tourism. Exhibits cover the history of transportation to Yellowstone, from stagecoaches to modern travel, the role of Union Pacific Railroad in founding the town, local wildlife management, and major events like the 1959 earthquake and 1988 fires. Families can watch films, see historic photographs and artifacts, and join guided walking tours of the nearby railroad historic district.
A membership to Museum of the Yellowstone carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
