About this place

A museum dedicated to contemporary craft and design, the only one of its kind in San Francisco. Visitors explore exhibitions focused on makers, designers and artists working across materials and techniques. The museum runs hands-on MakeArt programs for families and children, including drop-in gallery projects and workshops led by artists. MCD also hosts MakeArt Family Days on first Saturdays, with activities tailored to different ages from toddlers upward. As a non-collecting institution, the museum collaborates with practising artists and designers to create experiences that explore the creative process.

If you are a member here

A membership to Museum of Craft and Design carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.

  • the full NARM list Art, history and cultural institutions. Not valid within 15 miles of here.

Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
