A museum in Madisonville dedicated to Louisiana's maritime history, housed on the grounds of a former shipyard. Families can explore exhibits about historic boats including the wooden vessel Alice and a detailed model of the sidewheel steamer Empress Queen, learn about an experimental Civil War submarine, and see lighthouse models and artifacts. Interactive displays let visitors track modern ships in real time, manipulate a sand table to understand how water shapes the landscape, and see taxidermied wildlife from local rivers.
