About this placeHistoric St. Mary's City is an outdoor living-history and archaeology museum built on the site of Maryland's first capital in southern Maryland. Families can walk mulched paths between reconstructed sites such as the Woodland Indian Hamlet, the Godiah Spray Tobacco Plantation, the Brick Chapel, and the 1676 State House, plus visit the St. John's Site Museum and the tall ship Maryland Dove docked at the waterfront. The grounds are set up for self-guided exploring, with an exhibits map available and accessible doorways at the sites. It is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., through November, with seasonal events like trick-or-treat evenings and Hearth and Home programs held throughout the year.
A membership to Historic St. Mary’s City Museum carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
