High Steppe Climbing Center is an indoor rock climbing gym in Yakima with routes and activities for beginners and experienced climbers alike. Kids can try bouldering on the 14-foot free-standing wall, rated from V0 to V9, or use one of five auto-belay stations on the 30-foot walls, which let climbers reach the top safely with a rope but no partner. There is a dedicated kid zone along with a fitness and training area and a community gathering space. Youth climbing instruction is offered through the Climb Academy program, and staff give an orientation for first-time visitors, who must sign a waiver (parents or guardians must sign for minors). The gym is open seven days a week, Monday through Friday 10am-8pm, Saturday 10am-6pm, and Sunday noon-6pm.
