About this placeCoos Art Museum occupies a restored 1936 Art Deco post office building in downtown Coos Bay and serves as the main visual arts center on Oregon's South Coast. Families can walk through seven gallery spaces with up to 24 rotating exhibitions a year, including a permanent collection on regional art history and a second-floor room honoring Coos Bay runner Steve Prefontaine with memorabilia and personal artifacts. Kids and adults can also browse the Rental/Sales Gallery, where local artwork is available to buy. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11am to 5pm, with admission of $6 for adults, $3 for seniors, and free entry for K through college students, and members and children under a certain age get in free. Free public parking is available along Anderson Avenue and 3rd Street, and the building has wheelchair access and an elevator to the upper galleries.
A membership to Coos Art Museum carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in these programs.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
