Bowfish Studios is a children's makeover salon in Ocean City where kids can be transformed into mermaids, unicorns, fairies, dragons, or sharks with themed hair styling, face paint, glitter, and accessories like starfish clips, sparkly horns, or fairy wings. Trained "Imagination Stylists" handle one-on-one styling appointments, and the studio also hosts themed birthday parties and other kids' events. It offers ear piercing using the Inverness Piercing System, with a child's consent required before piercing. The salon says it uses biodegradable glitter and is working to cut microplastics from its supplies. It grew out of the Bowfish Kids retail store, which opened in Ocean City in 2013, with the salon launching in 2017.
