About this place
Aviation Challenge is a multi-day camp program run at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, where kids and teens train like military aviators through hands-on flight simulators and teamwork-based missions. Campers progress through levels such as Mach I, Mach II and Mach III, tackling aerodynamics challenges, engineering principles and increasingly advanced flight simulations, with the invitation-only Mach III Elite reserved for trainees ages 17 to 18. There is also a shorter camp that mixes land- and water-survival skills with simulator missions and a tour of historic aircraft, plus a family-friendly option where children ages 7 and up can attend a three-day aviation camp alongside a paying adult. The camps emphasize leadership and critical thinking alongside the aviation theme, and take place on the same campus as the center's Space Camp and rocket exhibits.
