Aspen Ice Karting is a seasonal pop-up go-kart track set up right on the frozen surface of Kodiak Ski Lake near Aspen. Drivers take turns behind the wheel of one of five CRG frame karts, each powered by a 12 HP engine and fitted with snow tires and ice screws for grip, reaching speeds between 45 and 50 mph while drifting around the ice track. It operates only between Christmas and late February, weather permitting, with daily hours from 9 am to 2 pm. The track sits at 401 Tree Farm Drive in El Jebel, across from Whole Foods Market, about 25 minutes from Aspen and Snowmass, making it an easy add-on for a day away from the ski slopes.
