Established in 1948, the Asheville Art Museum is a celebration of the human creative spirit, a center for lifelong learning and enrichment, and a gathering place for the community and visitors alike. A vital force in the community, the Museum presents a robust schedule of engaging exhibitions featuring American art of the 20th and 21st centuries. The Museum’s outstanding collection of more than 7500 works of American art, and art of significance to the Western North Carolina and Southern Appalachia, is presented in dialogue, exploring the mutual influences on American aesthetic development. The Museum also offers a sweeping variety of innovative programs and events for all ages, including classes and workshops for adults, families, college students, and children; guided tours and school field trips; concerts, films, and performances; volunteer and internship programs; free community days; and much more. The expanded state-of-the-art facilities also house an art library, a lecture and performance space, a new ArtPLAYce for families and children, and the rooftop Sculpture Terrace and Perspective Café.
A membership to Asheville Art Museum carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
